Behavior management remains one of the most dominate issues discussed among both parents and educators. The convergence of increasing understanding of mental health and neurology, along with a greater appreciation for the general rights and well being of children has created a variety of contradictions as the overall quality and availability of supportive resources has decreased significantly; parents and teachers are expected to provide more support with less help. Dr. Ross W. Greene attempts to help square the circle of how to deal with the most difficult child behaviors in his work The Explosive Child, and while his proposed framework holds up poorly to even minor scrutiny, it does provide a discerning reader with a roadmap to how poorly behaved boys become abusive men.
